Henderson's Three Young Goalies Are Splitting One Crease

Current Matchups

The Henderson Silver Knights have used three goalies in ten games, and all three are Vegas draft picks aged 23 or younger. Carl Lindbom has made four starts, Pavel Moysevich three, and Cameron Whitehead three plus a relief appearance.

Together they've stopped 255 of 276 shots. That .924 save percentage is third in the AHL, where the league average is .900.

Goalie Age Drafted GP Shots Goals SV% Rank (80+ shots)
Cameron Whitehead 23 2022, 4th round 4 107 6 .944 2nd of 60
Carl Lindbom 23 2021, 7th round 4 84 5 .940 3rd of 60
Pavel Moysevich 22 2024, 3rd round 3 85 10 .882 46th of 60

How much is luck

Save percentage against shots faced for AHL goalies with 80 or more shots, with the range an average goalie would post

Every AHL goalie with 80 or more shots against through November 5. The shaded band is where an average goalie would land nine times in ten at each workload.

The workloads are still small. An average AHL goalie facing 107 shots would allow six goals or fewer about 8 percent of the time, which is Whitehead's line. Lindbom's line would turn up about 14 percent of the time. Both sit inside the band, near its top edge. Moysevich's .882 is also inside it, toward the bottom.

The band narrows as shots pile up. By 300 shots, an average goalie's range is roughly .871 to .928, so a goalie still above .930 then would be harder to explain as luck.

The order in the crease

Lindbom is the only one of the three with NHL experience: eight games for Vegas last season. Whitehead went in the fourth round in 2022 and Moysevich in the third in 2024. Over the next month, how Henderson splits the starts will say more about the order Vegas has in mind than the save percentages will.

Sources and method

AHL game data comes from the HockeyTech/LeagueStat feed behind theahl.com, through November 5, 2026. Draft and NHL records come from the NHL's player records. The band is a normal approximation around the league save percentage. The 8 and 14 percent figures are binomial probabilities at the league rate.
