Shift-by-shift timelines · NHL shift charts, play-by-play, xG and in-game win probability
Every lane runs on one clock: win probability, the expected-goals race, each shot by quality, the strength state, and every shift for every player. Move across the timeline to see who was on the ice, how long they'd been out, and what the game looked like at that moment.

Who faced whom
Minutes each home skater shared the ice with each away skater at even strength, from the shift charts. Coaches with last change (the home team) can chase matchups; this is where it shows.

Ice time and on-ice xG
On-ice xG counts every unblocked and blocked attempt while the player was on at 5-on-5. Single-game on-ice numbers are noisy; read them as a description of this game only.
About these timelines
- Events are ordered by the NHL's own play sequence. The database's event index isn't chronological, so ordering by it scrambles the game.
- Win probability is this site's in-game model, which updates on score, time, cumulative xG and the pregame forecast.
- xG is this site's shot model. Blocked shots are drawn with the xG of an attempt from the block location. Strength comes from the play-by-play situation code at each event, so brief delayed-penalty goalie pulls appear as empty-net slivers.
- Shifts come from NHL shift charts (with the HTML time-on-ice report as fallback). A goal can end shifts on the same second it's scored, so on-ice credit uses the player's shift ending at that moment.
