NHL Power Rankings: Week 5 (Oct 27, 2026)
Our NHL power rankings use model-derived strength ratings. Each team is rated by their predicted win probability against a league-average opponent on neutral ice—the same models that power our game predictions and playoff simulations.
Strength rating = average of P(win at home vs average) and P(win away vs average). Trend compares ranks to one week ago.
Each team's note and profile dots use four measures from this season: offense, expected goals created per game (chance quality and volume); defense, expected goals allowed per game; goaltending, goals saved above what those chances predict; and form, results over the last 10 games. The note names any measure where a team ranks in the league's top or bottom eight.
